Our goal is to get cleos up and running so you can issue getcommands on the mainnet, nothing more. This is particularly useful if you want to get unique info, or later want to run permission commands on your wallets or contracts where existing tools may not help.

This could get dated so you should always check on EOSIO’s website here (https://developers.eos.io/eosio-home/docs/introduction).

First, get eosio installed.

Fastest way to do this is with brew (https://brew.sh/). After you have brew installed, run these commands.

brew tap eosio/eosio
brew install eosio

Believe it or not, you should be able to run cleos commands on mainnet already.

Test it out.

cleos -u https://api.eosnewyork.io:443 get account gm2diobtgmge

You’re welcome.

To interact with tokens and wallets you will need to have keosd running, but that is a story for another day.
